Yes, I know that being mostly a city person I am in awe of, and have even idolized, farms like this. I am now reorganizing my relationship to this romanticized image, as well as to the land, and all species in general. It's more important than ever that we all know where our food comes from. Gale Woods Farm, led by farmer Tim Reese, works daily against industrial farming destruction and climate change. I thank Jennifer Glaws for inviting us to this project. I feel very lucky to be working on this land, and acknowledge the debt, apology and reparations that we owe to those who came before us and are still here...the Dakhóta and Anishinaabeg peoples. I am hoping to bring a sincere curiosity to this project. The sheep and llama bring me to my knees and make me question everything. I don't know how to meet their sheepness, and their llama-ness. But we are trying. Judith Howard, Dexter Carlson and Kaleena Miller are immensely creative and generous humans. I am honored to be beginning to work with all of them in this way. Laurie Van Wieren.
